No invented experience

How to find an AI resume writer that doesn't lie.

You ask an AI to sharpen your resume, and it hands back a tool you never used, a team bigger than the one you ran, or a number nobody measured. You want an AI resume writer that doesn't lie, and the only way to know is to look at what actually stops it. Some of that protection is code, and some of it is you reading the result.

Does AI resume fabricate experience? Left alone, it can

A language model asked to improve a resume is rewarded for sounding impressive, and impressive is easier to reach with details you never supplied. That's why a tool that rewrites a whole resume can add employers, skills or numbers that were never there.

Then it's your name on the page. A resume that claims experience you don't have leaves you defending it in the interview, while the interviewer asks about the tool you've never opened.

So don't ask a tool whether it promises to be honest. Ask what stops it from being otherwise.

Building an AI resume writer that doesn't lie takes three layers

CVMagnet doesn't rely on a prompt alone. It uses three layers: a stated rule, the AI never writing your facts, and a check on every result.

The rule is the weakest of the three, and CVMagnet treats it that way. The AI is told at length not to invent anything about you, but that's guidance, not a guarantee. The other two layers exist because of that.

Employers, titles and dates are copied, never typed by the AI

The AI only returns rewritten wording and which skills to keep. Your employers, titles, dates, education, certifications and contact details are copied from your original resume by code. Your employer's name can't be wrong, because the AI never types it.

Before anything is saved, code checks that every employer, date range and credential traces back to your original resume. If one doesn't, your original's facts are put back.

Padded bullets and borrowed titles get stopped

Inflation tends to arrive in familiar forms, and each one has its own check.

  • A job the AI can't match to your original resume is refused, so an invented position has nowhere to go.
  • If a rewritten job comes back with more bullets than you had, it's reverted to your own wording, unless the extra bullet carries a skill you ticked.
  • Your headline can't claim a seniority such as senior, lead or principal that you haven't held.
  • When the AI says your resume already proves a requirement in other words, it has to quote the phrase, and code checks that the phrase is in your resume.

The wording is the one thing no code can check

The rewritten wording itself isn't checked automatically, because no code can prove a rewritten bullet fairly describes the work it came from. That part is yours.

Every match lists what was changed and opens in an editor. Read the rewritten wording before you send it, and change anything that doesn't sound like your work. If you couldn't explain a sentence out loud in an interview, rewrite it.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Is CVMagnet an AI resume builder that doesn't lie?

CVMagnet is closer to a rewriter than a builder. It starts from the resume you upload and tailors it to a job instead of building one from scratch. If you're looking for an AI resume builder that doesn't lie, that difference matters: the starting point is your own document, not a blank page.

Is it safe to use AI to tailor your resume?

It's safer when the tool can't change your facts and shows you what it changed. In CVMagnet, code protects your employers, titles and dates, and every match lists what was changed and opens in an editor, so you can review it before you use it. Reading the rewritten wording is your part.

What if a job posting names a skill I have but didn't list?

Tick it on the missing-keywords list and it's added to your resume. Nothing else gets added: your skills line is reordered and filtered from your own list, and a new skill appears only when you tick it. Ticking a skill doesn't change your employers, titles or dates.
